Vietnamese vehicle manufacturer Kim Long Motor signed a memorandum of understanding with Costa Rica’s Cooperativa Autogestionaria Vertex R.L on October 27 to explore commercial vehicle sales in Costa Rica and elsewhere in Central America.

The agreement assigns market research and the assessment of business opportunities to Vertex R.L. Kim Long Motor will supply technical details, product documentation and pricing information to help the companies evaluate possible cooperation.

Following that research and subsequent discussions, the companies plan to negotiate a possible distribution appointment for Vertex R.L in territories they would jointly agree on. The memorandum does not establish that appointment.

Vertex R.L trades and distributes vehicles in Costa Rica. Having started with passenger transport and bus rentals, it has extended its distribution operations into other Central American countries. It is also developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Costa Rica.

Kim Long Motor general director Dao Viet Anh said the agreement formed part of the company’s export expansion strategy. He said the partners aimed to use Vertex R.L’s transport-sector experience and local knowledge to develop a regional network for Kim Long commercial vehicles.

Kim Long Motor’s previous commercial and export activities include South Korea, Thailand and the Philippines.
