Indonesia’s capital market investor count reaches 33 million
Retail investors account for more than 55 per cent of transactions, while capital market fundraising has reached Rp200 trillion in 2026, according to OJK.

Indonesia now has 33 million capital market investors, according to Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi, who said a growing domestic retail base could help cushion the stock market against global turbulence.
Speaking at Kadin’s national leadership meeting in Jakarta, Friderica contrasted the current figure with around 250,000 retail investors early in her career. The count uses single investor identification, meaning someone with accounts at five securities firms is counted only once.
She attributed the expansion to technological developments and the pandemic, when people spending more time at home opened investment accounts. Retail investors now represent more than 55 per cent of capital market transactions, she said.
Capital market fundraising in 2026 has reached Rp200 trillion through initial public offerings, debt securities, sukuk and rights issues, Friderica said. She put the number of issuers at 974, ranking behind Malaysia, and said these channels offered businesses a range of funding options. A stronger domestic retail investor base could make Indonesia’s market less vulnerable to global economic disruption, she added.
