Indonesia plans higher Pertalite quota as drivers shift to RON 90
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said subsidised fuel availability would be ensured, while the size of the quota increase remains under calculation.

Indonesia is preparing to raise its quota for subsidised Pertalite petrol, with Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia saying technical calculations would be completed by the end of October. The government has not yet determined the size of the increase.
Speaking in Jakarta on 23 October 2026, Bahlil said some motorists were switching from RON 92 petrol to RON 90 Pertalite. He said that shift would require an adjustment to the quota, but could not confirm whether the increase would reach 10 per cent.
Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara said on 26 October 2026 that the government would ensure subsidised fuel volumes were available. He made the remarks after attending the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF) 2026 in Jakarta.
Bahlil also said the government had considered the additional subsidy spending that a larger Pertalite allocation would entail through the end of the year. He said preparations for the subsidy budget had been taken into account.
