FPT Corporation has started running trials at a semiconductor testing and packaging plant in Bac Ninh, northern Vietnam. The facility covers 1,600 square metres in Yen Phong II-C Industrial Park and is operated by FPT Analysis Technologies JSC.

Its six production lines have a designed annual capacity of up to 300 million chips. Initial services will concentrate on checking functionality, quality and reliability for Vietnamese and overseas semiconductor businesses. An expected first testing order for a South Korean partner would begin commercial operations.

Automated equipment measures how chips function and perform, with handlers placing components for checks and separating those that pass from those that fail. The testing space uses a Class 10,000 cleanroom, equivalent to ISO Class 7, to limit dust and control environmental conditions.

Engineers develop test programmes for individual chip designs. FPT is also working on an AI-powered platform to automate some of that development, including standardising technical requirements and data, configuring tests and assessing results.

Planned durability checks will expose chips to high temperatures, temperature cycles and combined heat and humidity. FPT intends to enlarge its reliability testing facilities to satisfy international requirements applicable to testing and calibration laboratories.

The company’s team includes engineers and specialists with experience at Intel’s Vietnam facility. FPT also plans a December pilot with FPT Polytechnic College, allowing students to practise using testing equipment and production lines. Its longer-term goals include developing packaging technology and extending advanced testing capabilities.
