DTI says 190 basic goods will retain quantities under price commitments
Manufacturers have pledged to hold prices until December 31, 2026, with no violations found in nationwide checks so far, the Philippine trade secretary said.

Manufacturers of 190 basic necessities and prime commodities covered by price commitments will not cut product quantities, Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Maria Cristina Aldeguer-Roque said on November 4.
Speaking to GMA Super Radyo DZBB, Roque said product size, weight and quantity would stay unchanged alongside retail prices. Her assurance ruled out shrinkflation—the practice of reducing the amount consumers receive without lowering the price—for the monitored goods.
Roque had announced the manufacturers' price commitments the previous month. She said they apply nationwide, from Luzon to Mindanao, and run until December 31, 2026. Regional DTI offices check prices weekly, and no violations have been found so far, she added.
The department sets suggested retail prices for necessities including bread, canned sardines, instant noodles, milk and coffee products, salt, bottled water, candles, detergent and laundry soap. The commitments also extend to prime commodities including batteries, toilet soap, condiments, luncheon meat, meat loaf, corned beef and beef loaf.
