DBS extends PayLah! QR payments to Taiwan
More than three million users can access the service, with additional merchant coverage due in 2027.

DBS said on Oct 21 that travellers to Taiwan can use PayLah! for purchases at more than 250,000 merchants, from eateries and night markets to shops. The lender said it is the first Singapore bank to link its customers to Taiwan’s mobile QR payment system.
The Taiwan QR Code (TWQR) network is accessible to more than three million PayLah! users. According to DBS, the service currently reaches about two-thirds of participating merchants. Supported payment providers include Taiwan Pay, Easy Wallet, iPass Money and PXPay Plus.
Customers scan a supported TWQR code within PayLah! Before they confirm a transaction, the app shows the purchase amount in Taiwan dollars, the exchange rate and the amount payable in Singapore dollars.
DBS said coverage will widen in 2027 to include additional merchants, among them businesses accepting JKO Pay QR codes. It will also introduce an option for major Taiwanese retailers to scan a customer’s PayLah! QR code.
The Taiwan service joins overseas payment links with QRIS in Indonesia, DuitNow in Malaysia, PromptPay in Thailand and UnionPay globally. DBS said overseas QR transaction volumes had risen 2.5 times year on year, while its unique user count had doubled.
