Chandra Asri plans Cilegon unit to diversify petrochemical feedstock
The company hopes to complete the facility in 2027, providing an alternative to naphtha if overseas supplies are disrupted.

PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) is developing a condensate splitter unit in Cilegon, Banten, to give its petrochemical operations an alternative to imported naphtha during supply disruptions. The company hopes the facility will be completed in 2027.
Suryandi, Chandra Asri Group’s director of human resources and corporate affairs, outlined the project at a Forum Wartawan Industri discussion at Hotel Bidakara on 2 November 2026. His presentation projected production capacity equivalent to about 2.5 million tonnes a year.
The company currently imports naphtha for its petrochemical operations. Suryandi said geopolitical disruption in the Middle East was one example of a risk that could interrupt those supplies. The new unit would provide another feedstock option and greater purchasing flexibility, rather than replace naphtha imports entirely, he said.
Separately, Chandra Asri carries out turnaround maintenance every four to five years as part of efforts to renew core assets. Suryandi said the work was intended to maintain the reliability of production equipment and avoid operational disruptions.
