BRI plans share buyback of up to Rp1 trillion
The second-stage programme is scheduled for 22 October 2026 to 21 January 2027, following an earlier allocation of up to Rp500 billion.

Indonesia’s PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI, has announced plans to repurchase shares worth up to Rp1 trillion in a second-stage buyback. The bank disclosed the plan on 22 October 2026, with purchases scheduled from that date until 21 January 2027.
BRI corporate secretary Dhanny said in a written statement dated 27 October that the phased repurchases were intended to improve shareholder value while taking account of the bank’s finances and regulatory requirements. He said the programme reflected BRI’s confidence in its business and long-term growth prospects.
The bank previously allocated up to Rp500 billion for a first-stage programme running from 12 June to 11 September 2026. At its annual general meeting on 24 March 2025, shareholders had approved buybacks worth up to Rp3 trillion, through either stock-exchange or off-exchange transactions.
Dhanny said global economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, commodity price movements and capital flows affecting Indonesian financial-market volatility also informed the buyback decision. BRI would continue to prioritise capital adequacy, prudent operations and corporate governance, he said.
BRI reported net profit of Rp31.2 trillion through the end of the second quarter of 2026. Assets rose 11.7 per cent year on year to Rp2,352 trillion, while third-party funds increased 6.7 per cent to Rp1,581 trillion. Lending and financing grew 16.2 per cent to Rp1,646 trillion.
The bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 21.5 per cent and its loan-to-deposit ratio was 90.8 per cent.
