PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) has announced a second phase of share repurchases worth up to Rp1 trillion. In a disclosure dated 22 October 2026, the bank said it planned to carry out the purchases from that date until 21 January 2027 amid significant fluctuations in the capital market.

The bank intends to use the bought-back shares for a share ownership programme for employees and/or its directors and commissioners. Shareholders must approve the transfer at a general meeting before it can proceed. BRI said it would buy shares at prices it judged appropriate and fair.

BRI corporate secretary Dhanny said the proposal aimed to increase value for shareholders and demonstrated management's confidence in the bank's fundamentals and longer-term growth prospects. He said capital adequacy, prudent practices and corporate governance would remain priorities during implementation.

The planned repurchases follow Financial Services Authority Regulation No. 13 of 2023 and the authority's letter No. S-112/D.04/2026, dated 9 September 2026. The letter concerns share buybacks by publicly listed companies during periods of significant market fluctuation.
