Bank Indonesia keeps rupiah intervention strategy unchanged
The rupiah fell 0.30 per cent to Rp18,135 against the US dollar amid concerns over escalating conflict in the Middle East.

Bank Indonesia will maintain its intervention strategy to stabilise the rupiah despite increased market volatility linked to conflict in the Middle East, Governor Destry Damayanti said in Jakarta on Monday.
Speaking after the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF) 2026, Destry said the central bank remained active in the market and had no plans to change its approach. She described the fluctuations as normal market volatility that the bank could continue to monitor.
Destry said daily supply and demand continued to determine the rupiah’s movements. The central bank was watching the exchange rate closely and examining the factors behind its fluctuations.
The rupiah weakened 0.30 per cent to Rp18,135 against the US dollar as markets faced concerns about the escalating Middle East conflict.
Xinhua reported that fears over the conflict pushed Brent crude to its highest level since late April. December-delivery Brent settled at US$116.72 a barrel on October 24, up 3.14 per cent, while West Texas Intermediate for December delivery rose 3.82 per cent to US$103.27 a barrel.
