Vietnam outlines 2027 APEC finance priorities as it takes chairmanship
The four themes address capital markets, data-driven financing, development resources and skills for young people working in finance.

Vietnam assumed the chairmanship of the APEC Finance Ministers’ Process on October 21, announcing four themes for its 2027 agenda. Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan outlined the programme to Vietnam News Agency in Hong Kong after the 33rd APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting.
The agenda seeks to draw private funding into innovative businesses through stronger capital markets. It also promotes the use of data in finance to make capital more accessible to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. The remaining priorities concern diversifying development funding and building the capabilities of young people working in finance.
Tuan said the themes matched both the Incheon Plan for 2026–2030 and Vietnam’s development objectives. Discussions are expected to inform changes to domestic financial policies and mechanisms. Vietnam will also host APEC Year 2027.
Reviewing the ministerial meeting, Tuan said economies broadly agreed on the need for fiscal and monetary policies that remain flexible and credible to protect regional financial stability. A joint statement reaffirmed their commitment to an Asia-Pacific community characterised by openness, dynamism, resilience and peace by 2040.
Separately, a Vietnamese representative told the meeting’s macroeconomic session that Vietnam’s GDP grew by 9.01% during the first nine months of 2026, including 9.95% growth in the third quarter.
