The Vietnam Capital Market Forum was launched on October 30, with annual meetings expected to provide a venue for discussions on policy and strategy. Tuoi Tre online newspaper organised the launch event alongside the State Securities Commission of Vietnam and other organisations.

The initiative brings regulators, media organisations, financial institutions and businesses together to support capital-market development. It is intended to give participants a way to exchange proposals for improving the market’s transparency, strength and sustainability.

Experts said the stock market had expanded in size, liquidity and investor participation over three decades. They said its next phase would also need better mobilisation and allocation of capital to serve the economy’s growing demand for medium- and long-term investment.

Vietnam’s investment capital needs are projected at approximately ₫38.5 quadrillion (US$1.46 trillion) for 2026-2030 under its socioeconomic development orientation for that period. Bank lending remains the economy’s main funding source.

Expected participants include leaders from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the securities regulator, as well as FTSE Russell representatives, banks, securities firms, fund managers, credit rating agencies, businesses and financial experts from Vietnam and abroad.
