CAN Trader and Guidance Marine form vessel positioning partnership
The collaboration aims to support Southeast Asian offshore operators with positioning technology for new vessels and upgrades to existing fleets.
Singapore marine electronics company CAN Trader & Services Pte Ltd has partnered with Guidance Marine to make vessel positioning technology more accessible in Southeast Asia, CAN Trader announced. The collaboration targets shipyards, offshore operators, vessel owners and marine engineering companies.
Under the arrangement, Guidance Marine’s Dynamic Positioning (DP) reference technology will be paired with CAN Trader’s technical capabilities and regional customer network. Position reference equipment feeds location data into DP controls, helping vessels hold their position during offshore work.
Expected priorities include equipment for vessels under construction, opportunities to upgrade existing DP installations and support for fleet equipment throughout its lifecycle. Customers are also expected to have a regional contact to discuss projects, ask about products and coordinate with Guidance Marine.
The companies intend to approach customers and industry partners around Southeast Asia to identify potential projects and match systems to vessel requirements. CAN Trader said the partnership also forms part of its strategy to broaden its marine technology portfolio and build lasting relationships with equipment manufacturers.
