Vietnam directs supply planning and market checks ahead of Tet 2027
Businesses must submit holiday supply plans before December 10, 2026, as authorities prepare reserves and step up checks on essential goods.

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has instructed local authorities and businesses to prepare essential goods supplies for Tet 2027, with measures covering stock reserves, distribution and enforcement against market violations.
The ministry reported GDP growth of 9.01% for the first nine months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, while the average Consumer Price Index increased by 4.52%. It expects demand to rise towards the end of 2026 and into early 2027, particularly for food, fuel and holiday goods.
Local industry and trade departments have been told to track demand, prices and available supplies. Authorities must draw up reserve plans and encourage producers, retailers and wholesale markets to join market stabilisation programmes.
Supply arrangements should prioritise rural and mountainous communities, remote areas, islands and places affected by natural disasters. Local authorities are also to work with transport and logistics providers to resolve distribution bottlenecks before Tet.
Producers and traders of essential goods must prepare holiday production and supply plans and maintain reasonable stocks of inputs and fuel. Petroleum distributors and wholesalers must meet their minimum allocated supply quotas, comply with reserve requirements and keep supplies uninterrupted.
Market surveillance teams will target speculation, stockpiling, price-listing breaches, e-commerce violations and trade in counterfeit, smuggled or substandard products. Inspections will focus on goods in high demand during Tet, including food, confectionery, fruit and beverages.
Businesses must file production and supply plans before December 10, 2026. Progress reports are due before January 22, 2027, followed by reports on implementation results before February 11, 2027.
