Thailand draws US$690 million in advanced materials project applications
The 35 proposals include materials for AI computing, electric vehicles and clean energy, according to Thailand’s investment promotion agency.

Thailand’s Board of Investment (BOI) said applications for 35 advanced materials projects, valued at about US$690 million (฿23.5 billion), were filed between 2023 and the first half of 2026. The agency reported the figures on 24 October 2026.
BOI attributed the investment plans to growing demand for artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and clean energy. The proposals encompass capacitors, specialised ceramics, graphite films for heat management, magnets and inputs for batteries and fuel cells.
The agency identified Taiwan’s Fultech Fiber Glass among the investors, producing circuit-board glass fabric that includes grades intended for AI servers. Another manufacturer, Jones Tech, makes graphite films using both synthetic and natural materials to dissipate heat from electronics.
Battery and energy-related projects include BGN Thai’s coated foils for lithium-ion batteries, magnets made by Phinis Well for EV motors, and Xinyuan Graphite’s hydrogen fuel-cell bipolar plates. CoorsTek Advanced Materials has invested in manufacturing automotive sensor ceramics and silicon nitride balls for hybrid bearings.
BOI Secretary General Narit Therdsteerasukdi said the agency would maintain support for upstream manufacturing, research, technology and workforce development. He said producing advanced materials domestically could lessen import dependence and give Thai businesses access to supply chains with greater added value.
