Calls from the Singapore Police Force (SPF) will display 6000 0999 from 2 November 2026, as the force introduces a single caller ID to help combat police impersonation scams.

SPF is the first Singapore government agency to make the change. The number replaces the office and mobile numbers that officers previously used when calling the public.

Each call will be followed by an automated text message bearing the official “gov.sg” sender ID and explaining how to contact SPF. The new number is for telephone calls only; it will not be used to send WhatsApp or Telegram messages.

SPF developed the system with Open Government Products, the Ministry of Digital Development and Information and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. The government plans similar changes for other agencies to help people verify official calls.

Police cautioned that impersonators may already have a person's name or NRIC number. SPF said officials will not ask callers to transfer money or cryptocurrency, disclose banking login details or install apps obtained from unofficial stores.

People who receive suspicious calls can verify them using official channels or call the ScamShield Helpline on 1799, which operates 24 hours a day.
