Investment approvals in Perak reached RM15.8 billion for 2025, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said. For manufacturing alone, approvals over 2021–2025 totalled RM25.9 billion, with 67.9 per cent, or approximately RM17.5 billion, realised or being implemented.

The figures accompanied MIDA’s account of Invest in Perak Day 2026, held on 20 August 2026. The agency met the Perak state government, InvestPerak and industry representatives to discuss manufacturing opportunities and support for investment projects.

MIDA pointed to opportunities for advanced semiconductor packaging and testing at Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park and Kerian Industrial City because of their proximity to Penang and Kulim, Kedah. Participants also discussed bringing in technology partners for rare earth activities to develop domestic technical expertise, specialised talent and value creation.

The agency called for industrial parks to focus on sectors matching their infrastructure, local capabilities and supply-chain readiness. It also outlined manufacturing project assessments under the New Incentive Framework, covering technology adoption, high-value employment, domestic supply chains, economic complexity and sustainability.

Investor clinics brought MIDA together with customs officials, Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Lembaga Air Perak and the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation. Investors could consult the agencies directly about regulatory, operational and infrastructure matters that could affect the implementation of projects.
