Vietnam’s Nghe An province ranked sixth nationally for foreign direct investment after attracting around US$2.49 billion in the first nine months of 2026, Vietnam News Agency reported. Overall investment in the central province exceeded ₫108.27 trillion during the period.

The province has set an FDI target of US$6–8 billion for 2026–2030, with an annual average of US$1.2–1.6 billion. Its longer-term ambition is to become a centre for manufacturing, services and innovation in central Vietnam by 2045.

Administrative changes are part of the effort to attract investors. In late 2025, the provincial People’s Committee approved a simplification plan covering procedures overseen by the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone Management Board. Construction-sector procedures have been shortened by around 40 per cent.

The Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone has been expanded to 104,000 hectares. The expansion is expected to ease industrial land shortages and allow clearer zoning for different functions. Provincial authorities are also accelerating site clearance for the VSIP Nghe An 3, Hoang Mai II and Tho Loc industrial parks.

At VSIP Nghe An 1 Industrial Park, occupancy stands at 95 per cent, with electronics and precision engineering businesses among its tenants. The workforce has increased from around 2,000 before the COVID-19 pandemic to nearly 40,000.

WHA’s Vietnam country director, Dispong Pornchanoknart, said the company was developing a second industrial park of around 250 hectares. That project forms part of its long-term plan for approximately 2,000 hectares of industrial parks in Nghe An.
