Asia Gulf Holdings (AGH) announced on Oct 26 that former Singapore minister Maliki Osman and Revolut Group chairman Martin Gilbert had joined its global advisory board. The investment group is the parent of Singapore Gulf Bank, which is licensed in Bahrain.

Maliki’s remit covers geopolitical developments, relations with governments and cooperation within the region. Gilbert will advise on asset management, global investment strategy and opportunities in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

The appointments were unveiled in Hong Kong at the Asia Gulf Summit, hosted jointly by AGH and Whampoa Group. Amy Lee, who chairs the advisory board, said the additions would help it evaluate investments in light of political and economic developments in the two regions.

Maliki left politics in May 2025 following 24 years as an MP. His ministerial roles included serving in the Prime Minister’s Office and as second minister for foreign affairs and education. He has since become Nanyang Technological University’s senior adviser for Asean and flagship programmes.

Gilbert co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management in 1983 and headed it for 34 years. Lee is also co-founder and chairman of Singapore-based Whampoa Group, while former US Federal Reserve vice-chair for supervision Randal Quarles serves as the advisory board’s vice-chairman.
