Indonesia’s broad money growth accelerates to 8.3% in September
Broad money reached Rp10,587.9 trillion, while net claims on the central government and net foreign assets returned to annual growth.

Indonesia’s broad money supply, or M2, reached Rp10,587.9 trillion in September 2026, rising 8.3 per cent from a year earlier, Bank Indonesia reported. The annual growth rate accelerated from 5.2 per cent in the previous month.
In an announcement on 23 October 2026, the central bank’s head of communications, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, said the increase was supported by growth in narrow money, or M1, and quasi-money. These rose by 9.0 per cent and 7.3 per cent year on year, respectively.
Bank Indonesia identified net claims on the central government, net foreign assets and lending as factors influencing September’s M2 figures. Net claims on the central government increased 24.4 per cent year on year, reversing a 7.0 per cent contraction in August 2026.
Net foreign assets also returned to growth, rising 1.0 per cent year on year after shrinking 6.6 per cent in August 2026. Lending grew 12.7 per cent, compared with an annual increase of 13.3 per cent in the preceding month.
