Estek Automation Sdn. Bhd. has invested US$5 million (RM20 million) in a manufacturing facility that opened on 2 November 2026 in Penang’s Batu Kawan. The Malaysian engineering and automation company said the premises cover 50,000 square feet and will accommodate three areas of its business.

Work on semiconductor equipment will encompass developing specialised automation systems, assembling them and integrating them for production applications. The AI operation will develop technologies for intelligent visual inspection and automation, with the aim of improving factory efficiency, inspection capabilities and product quality.

Space set aside for contract manufacturing will serve industrial customers requiring equipment assembly, integration and associated production services. Estek said combining the operations at one location was intended to expand engineering and manufacturing capacity while accelerating technology development.

Chief executive Jacky Lee said the investment demonstrated the company’s long-term confidence in Penang’s semiconductor ecosystem. Founded in 2015, Estek specialises in automation equipment for semiconductors and intelligent manufacturing solutions. Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow welcomed its expansion and highlighted the company’s involvement in the Malaysia ATE Campus in Penang.
