BP BUMN and Danantara are promoting the development of Indonesia’s defence equipment and national car industries through greater investment, expanded production capacity and newer technology, according to BP BUMN head and Danantara chief operating officer Dony Oskaria.

Speaking at Wisma Danantara, Dony said projects needed sufficient investment and the latest technology. He said Indonesia should aim for high-quality manufacturing facilities rather than merely follow others. His comments were shared through BP BUMN’s official Instagram account.

The meeting included Danantara chief technology officer Sigit Puji Santosa and directors of PT LEN and PT Pindad. Dony said Danantara would support the projects, including efforts to increase production capacity. He cited clear offtake and margins as benefits for Pindad, while emphasising the gains for the country.

The national car initiative is also intended to strengthen domestic industrial capabilities. Its development is expected to provide opportunities for Indonesian talent, while investment and collaboration are intended to help local industry become more self-reliant and better able to meet domestic demand.
