BSI wins shareholder backing for rights issue to expand public ownership
The Indonesian bank has approval to offer up to 6.8 billion Series B shares, with a larger free float intended to attract more investors.

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BRIS) received shareholder consent on 6 November 2026 for a rights issue of up to 6.8 billion Series B shares. The proposal passed at the bank’s extraordinary general meeting.
BSI president director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the offering would strengthen the bank’s capital base while increasing public share ownership, or free float, from its current level of about 9.9%. He said the bank hoped to widen participation among domestic and overseas investors.
According to Anggoro, a higher free float could make BSI shares more accessible to institutional and global investors that consider public ownership levels in their investment decisions. It could also support trading liquidity and the bank’s efforts to qualify for global share indices, he said.
The bank projects capital needs of Rp64.41 trillion in 2027, compared with Rp51.07 trillion in 2026. Its capital adequacy ratio is forecast to rise to 23.31% from 20.38%.
Anggoro said the extra capital would help maintain a sufficient buffer, increase financing capacity and support business expansion. BSI is also seeking to join KBMI 4, a bank grouping based on core capital. The bank said achieving that ambition would make it the only Islamic bank in Indonesia in that category.
