Indonesia’s Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) plans to spend up to Rp547 billion repurchasing its shares amid market volatility, according to a disclosure cited on 28 October 2026. The bank intends to make the purchases through the stock exchange.

BNI said it could carry out the buyback in stages or in a single transaction, with completion required within 3 months of the disclosure. Its expected purchase window runs from 28 October 2026 to 27 January 2027.

The bank said the programme would be funded from internal cash and take account of its liquidity, capital position and applicable regulations. Purchases would be made at prices it considers fair and appropriate, subject to POJK 13/2023 and other relevant rules.

BNI said it did not expect a material effect on operating costs and projected that profit and loss would remain in line with its targets. Management also said the bank had sufficient capital and cash flow to finance the purchases alongside its business activities.

Other Indonesian state-owned banks have also announced repurchase plans. Bank Rakyat Indonesia has outlined a second-stage buyback of up to Rp1 trillion running until 21 January 2027. Bank Syariah Indonesia is preparing purchases worth up to Rp500 billion, also funded from internal cash.
