Singapore GDP growth slows to 5.4% in third quarter of 2026
Manufacturing growth eased, while construction accelerated to 8.8% as output rose in both the public and private sectors.

Singapore recorded economic growth of 5.4% for the third quarter of 2026, down from 6.2% in the second quarter, the Ministry of Energy Trade and Industry (METI) said on 14 October. Seasonally adjusted growth from the preceding quarter also slowed, reaching 1.1% compared with 1.5%.
Manufacturing expanded by 7.5% year on year, compared with 12.9% in the second quarter. Construction moved in the opposite direction: growth accelerated to 8.8% from 6.1%, with higher output from both public and private projects.
Transportation and storage, together with wholesale and retail trade, posted combined annual growth of 8%, up from 6.9%. Retail trade was the only sector in this group that did not expand. Machinery, equipment and supplies supported wholesale activity alongside increased electronics exports, while water and air transport were the main contributors to transportation growth.
Professional services, finance and insurance, and information and communications collectively grew by 4.3% year on year, compared with 5.1% previously. Every sector in this group expanded. Banking services and fund management led financial-sector growth, while IT and information services drove the information and communications sector.
The remaining services group recorded annual growth of 2.1%, against 2.4% in the preceding quarter. It covers real estate, accommodation and food services, administrative and support services, and other service industries. Food and beverage services was the sole sector in this group not to expand.
METI said accommodation growth reflected increased gross lettings in higher value-added hotel segments. The ministry said preliminary third-quarter GDP estimates, alongside details on sector performance, growth sources, inflation, employment and productivity, would appear in the Economic Survey of Singapore in November 2026.
