Seatrium and Karpowership sign pact for floating infrastructure in Singapore
Potential projects include floating data centres and power ships, while the partners plan further discussions on a joint venture.

Seatrium said on Oct 27 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with Karpowership covering the development of floating energy and digital infrastructure in Singapore. The agreement sets out a framework for solutions that could be deployed quickly.
Projects under consideration include floating data centres, power ships, vessels powered by turbines or hybrid systems, and floating nuclear solutions. The companies intend to continue talks over the coming months about creating a joint venture, with possible expansion of their cooperation into the broader South-east Asian market.
The partners envisage a platform spanning financing and infrastructure development through engineering, construction and operations. The signing was announced during Singapore International Energy Week 2026 and witnessed by Tan See Leng, Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry). Seatrium chief executive Chris Ong said the collaboration could extend its role in energy infrastructure.
Karpowership owns and operates 45 power ships to serve markets needing additional electricity generation. Its floating LNG fleet totals 12 assets, including those in the pipeline, and comprises LNG carriers alongside floating storage regasification units. Seatrium’s shares closed unchanged at S$1.82 before the announcement.
