Over 300 delegates representing nearly 40 jurisdictions gathered in Jakarta, Indonesia, for the opening of the 7th Belt and Road Initiative Tax Administration Cooperation Forum (BRITACOF). Discussions centred on how digital transformation and artificial intelligence are changing tax administration.

Before proceedings formally began, the BRITACOM Council named Indonesia’s Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto as both forum president and council chair. Representatives from the United Arab Emirates and Sierra Leone were appointed vice-chairs.

In his opening remarks, Bimo said Indonesia would strengthen its tax administration capabilities, broaden its use of technologies such as artificial intelligence and expand cooperation with partners. He also called for greater collaboration and mutual trust.

Indonesia’s Vice Minister of Finance Nurkholisoh Ibnu Aman said policy discussions, secure exchanges of information, joint training and expert exchanges could help tax authorities respond to challenges arising from the digital economy.

Huang Suhua, Executive Secretary of the BRITACOM Secretariat, reported progress under the Wuzhen, Nur-Sultan and Hong Kong action plans. He said cooperation had advanced tax certainty, digitalisation, the business environment for taxpayers and capacity-building.

Delegates also reviewed the Tax Administration Product Portfolio (TAPP) 2.0, the Taxpayer Service Product Portfolio (TSPP) 2.0 and the BRITACOM Annual Report (2026), which are intended to improve tax governance tools in participating regions.
