Iskandar Malaysia draws RM525.26 billion in investments over two decades
The Johor corridor is prioritising higher-value industries, while the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone recorded RM76.98 billion in approved investments in 2025.

Investments attracted by Iskandar Malaysia over two decades have reached RM525.26 billion, surpassing its initial target of RM383 billion by RM142.26 billion, according to the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA). The authority is now focusing on investments that raise productivity and expand opportunities for Malaysian businesses.
IRDA said the economic corridor in Johor had created more than one million jobs since its establishment, while average household incomes had risen to more than twice their previous level.
Its development priorities include advanced manufacturing, industries centred on digital technology and data, logistics, and financial and business services. IRDA said it would also assess technology transfers, innovation within Malaysia and participation by domestic companies, rather than investment amounts alone.
The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone attracted RM76.98 billion in approved investments in 2025. IRDA expects the zone to strengthen ties by connecting Johor's industrial capacity and cost advantages with Singapore's international capital, technology and business networks.
Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the corridor's next phase should be judged on the quality and sustainability of its economic benefits. He chaired the 36th IRDA Governing Council meeting on behalf of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, alongside Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
IRDA said fulfilling the zone's potential would require coordination on infrastructure, energy, workforce development, border procedures and connectivity. It added that investors increasingly considered reliable power, skilled workers and digital infrastructure, alongside land and operating costs.
