Indonesian MSME export programme records US$347 million in shipments
Ten memoranda of understanding worth Rp69 billion were signed at Trade Expo Indonesia 2026, involving mentors and international commercial partners.

Exports under Indonesia’s UMKM BISA Ekspor programme reached US$347 million from January to August 2026, ANTARA reported, as the Trade Ministry works to connect small businesses with overseas customers.
The ministry’s Desa Ekspor initiative identifies products from rural districts for introduction to international buyers. Trade Minister Budi Santoso said exporting was not confined to large companies or businesses based in cities.
At Trade Expo Indonesia 2026, mentors and international commercial partners signed 10 memoranda of understanding valued at Rp69 billion. The partnerships support improvements in product quality, manufacturing capacity and distribution networks.
Support for micro, small and medium enterprises also includes technical coaching. Businesses selling abroad must meet importing countries’ technical and safety requirements while maintaining delivery schedules.
Indonesia has implemented 25 international trade agreements and is negotiating another 13. Current efforts include talks with the Gulf Cooperation Council and the South American Mercosur bloc.
Budi said bilateral deals could provide access to markets without waiting for regional negotiations to conclude. He cited Indonesia’s arrangement with the United Arab Emirates as an example of expanding access in the Middle East.
