Indonesia Stock Exchange schedules shareholder meeting on demutualisation
The meeting was postponed from September while the exchange awaited an OJK regulation. Changes to its ownership rules remain necessary.

The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has scheduled an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders for 28 October 2026, according to a notice on its website, as it works towards demutualisation.
The meeting had been planned for 15 September 2026. BEI president director Jeffrey Hendrik said the postponement was necessary because the exchange was awaiting a Financial Services Authority (OJK) regulation on demutualisation, which it would study once issued.
Demutualisation forms part of the mandate under Indonesia’s Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law. The law allows the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia and BPI Danantara to become shareholders in the exchange.
OJK capital markets, financial derivatives and carbon exchange supervision chief Hasan Fawzi said the exchange still needed to prepare its infrastructure and identify rules requiring amendment. Its articles of association restrict share ownership to exchange members and do not permit dividend payments, he said.
Hasan said changes to the articles and other rules must precede preparations for offering shares to non-members. Potential investors could include the three state institutions or other Indonesian legal entities that the exchange considers strategic partners. Expressions of interest and negotiations over valuation would follow.
BPI Danantara chief investment officer Pandu Sjahrir said it was coordinating with BEI and OJK, with any involvement to be channelled through Danantara Investment Manajement (DIM). Hasan said a Danantara stake above 5% would require regulatory evaluation. He added that the timetable depended on the exchange’s readiness and approvals from its existing member-shareholders.
