BRI plans second-phase share buyback of up to Rp1 trillion
The Indonesian bank has scheduled the purchases for 22 October 2026 to 21 January 2027, following an earlier buyback allocation of Rp500 billion.

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) has announced plans to spend up to Rp1 trillion on a second phase of share repurchases, with the programme scheduled to run from 22 October 2026 until 21 January 2027.
BRI corporate secretary Dhanny said the purchases were intended to optimise shareholder value while taking account of the bank’s finances and regulatory requirements. In a statement cited on 28 October, he said capital adequacy, prudent management and corporate governance remained priorities.
Dhanny said the decision also reflected global market conditions, including economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, commodity price movements and capital flows affecting volatility in Indonesia’s financial markets.
Shareholders approved a buyback ceiling of Rp3 trillion at the annual general meeting on 24 March 2025. That authorisation allowed purchases on or off the stock exchange, either in stages or in a single transaction, subject to applicable rules.
A disclosure dated 12 June 2026 set aside up to Rp500 billion for the first phase, scheduled for 12 June to 11 September 2026.
BRI reported net profit of Rp31.2 trillion through the end of the second quarter of 2026. Assets rose 11.7 per cent year on year to Rp2,352 trillion, while third-party funds increased 6.7 per cent to Rp1,581 trillion. Lending and financing grew 16.2 per cent to Rp1,646 trillion. The bank’s capital adequacy ratio stood at 21.5 per cent and its loan-to-deposit ratio at 90.8 per cent.
