Indonesia’s mineral and strategic commodities exchange is expected to begin operating on 4 January 2027, Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi told President Prabowo Subianto during a cabinet meeting on 21 October 2026.

Friderica said the start would move from the targeted 1 January date because that day is a holiday. She linked the Indonesia Commodity Exchange (Icomex) to Indonesia’s ambition to serve as a reference for mineral and strategic commodity prices.

The exchange is mandated by Law No. 4 of 2026, which amends Law No. 4 of 2023 on financial sector development and strengthening. It will operate under OJK supervision, following the establishment of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI) and the government’s previously announced single-channel export policy.

At the meeting, Friderica also pledged further improvements to the credibility, liquidity and transparency of Indonesia’s stock market. She discussed free-float benchmarks, ownership disclosure and concentrated shareholdings, saying Indonesia compared favourably with other markets on several measures.

However, she said enforcement still needed to become tougher. OJK had imposed Rp1.5 trillion in sanctions on parties involved in coordinated trading, which she described as the largest sanction in Indonesia’s capital-market history. She also said two other companies were suspected of market manipulation.
