Indonesia and Russia aim to complete the administrative procedures for the Indonesia–Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement before the end of 2026 so it can take effect. The timetable was discussed by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov in Bogor, West Java.

According to an official statement cited on 17 October, ratification has reached its final stage. The agreement is intended to expand access to Eurasian markets for Indonesian products including palm oil, coffee, cocoa, textiles and furniture.

The talks also covered business partnerships, industrial capacity and possible cooperation in shipbuilding and aerospace. Indonesia and Russia agreed to deepen collaboration in agriculture, technology adoption, industrial manufacturing and supply-chain reliability.

Bilateral trade reached US$4.84 billion in 2025, an increase of 21.6 per cent from US$3.98 billion in 2024. Key traded goods included crude palm oil, coffee, cocoa, agricultural products and fertilisers.

Airlangga welcomed Russian business delegates taking part in Trade Expo Indonesia 2026 as an opportunity to broaden company partnerships and diversify trade. Manturov said Russian companies were meeting potential Indonesian partners and attending business discussions on trade, investment and industrial cooperation.

The Bogor meeting followed talks between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok in September 2026, as well as the countries’ 14th Joint Commission meeting in Kazan in May 2026.
