Google commits US$160 million to Negeri Sembilan water facilities
A reservoir and treatment plant will support a planned Port Dickson data centre campus and supply water to surrounding communities.

Google has announced US$160 million in funding for water infrastructure in Negeri Sembilan to serve local communities and its planned Port Dickson data centre campus. The company said the project includes a treatment plant designed to supply 65 million litres daily.
Working with the state government and Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan (SAINS), Google has selected Gamuda Berhad to build the plant and an off-river storage reservoir. The treated water will be available for households, businesses and data centres.
The reservoir, situated along the Linggi River, will collect surplus river water and rainfall when supplies are plentiful, Google said. It will hold water for periods when river flows are low and act as a retention basin to help reduce flooding nearby.
Ownership of both completed facilities will pass to Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan (Incorporated), or MBINS, the statutory body that manages state assets. They will support Google's forthcoming campus at Springhill Industrial Park in Port Dickson.
Google also restated its worldwide ambition to replenish 120% of its freshwater consumption. It said it would pay all electricity costs for the campus, as well as the direct infrastructure costs of connecting the site to the power grid.
Separately, Google said its expanded partnership with SOLS Foundation would bring solar energy laboratories to participating government schools and a 36-hour digital skills programme for young people seeking renewable energy careers. Both initiatives are scheduled to start in Negeri Sembilan in early 2027.
