Doosan-led consortium lands US$621.73 million deal to build O Mon 3
The Petrovietnam-owned power project in Can Tho will have a capacity of 1,155 megawatts, with completion targeted for 2030.

A consortium headed by South Korea’s Doosan Enerbility has signed a construction contract with state-owned Petrovietnam for O Mon 3 in Can Tho, Vietnam. The agreement is valued at KRW840 billion (US$621.73 million), and covers engineering, procurement and construction.
Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), a Petrovietnam subsidiary, is also a member of the consortium. The 1,155-megawatt plant belongs to Petrovietnam and has a project value of ₫34 trillion (US$1.31 billion). Its targeted completion date is 2030.
Doosan said it will supply its own steam turbine directly to the project. This will be the first time the company uses the turbine it developed in a Vietnamese combined-cycle power plant.
The company previously secured work on O Mon 4 in June 2025 under a contract worth about KRW900 billion (US$666.8 million). Completion of that plant is scheduled for 2028. Both projects form part of the Block B-O Mon chain, linking offshore gas production and transportation with electricity generation in the Mekong Delta.
With O Mon 3 included, Doosan said its combined-cycle power plant orders for 2026 comprise five contracts worth about KRW3.87 trillion (US$2.87 billion). South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that Doosan plans to pursue more gas-fired projects that Petrovietnam is developing in Vietnam’s central and northern regions.
