Malaysia’s Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim started presenting the 2027 Supply Bill to the Dewan Rakyat on October 9 at 3.35 pm, setting out the government’s spending priorities for the year ahead.

Anwar moved the bill for a second reading before Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul. The legislation seeks authority to withdraw money from the Consolidated Fund and allocate it to services in 2027.

This is the MADANI Government’s fifth budget since it was formed in 2022. It is also the second budget within the 13th Malaysia Plan, the country’s development framework covering 2026-2030.

The Dewan Rakyat calendar allocates eight days to policy-stage debate. Ministers are scheduled to deliver their winding-up responses from October 26 to 29. Committee-stage deliberations are set for November 2 to 26, after which the bill will be submitted to the chamber for approval.

Anwar had previously said the budget would maintain a focus on reducing people’s financial burdens, supporting those in need, expanding opportunities and sharing development benefits more equitably.
