Singapore stocks advance 0.5% as bank shares diverge
UOL led blue-chip gains, while Yangzijiang Shipbuilding was the weakest STI constituent. Broader-market advances outnumbered declines 370 to 274.

Singapore’s Straits Times Index (STI) closed at 5,296.25 on 5 November 2026, adding 27.62 points, or 0.5 per cent. Trading across the market totalled 1.5 billion securities valued at S$2.8 billion, with 370 counters advancing and 274 declining.
UOL topped the STI’s gainers after climbing S$0.28, or 3.6 per cent, to S$8.10. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding ranked last among the index’s constituents, losing S$0.15, or 3.1 per cent, to S$4.65.
Bank shares took different directions. DBS added 0.6 per cent to reach S$71.20 despite reporting third-quarter net profit of S$2.81 billion, down 5 per cent because of lower markets trading income. OCBC gained 0.3 per cent to S$27.93.
UOB dropped 1.6 per cent to S$37.81 after analysts lowered their target prices, citing expectations that narrower lending margins and higher operating costs would weigh on earnings in 2027. Its third-quarter net profit was S$1.25 billion, below the S$1.38 billion consensus estimate from six analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.
Among iEdge Singapore Next 50 Index constituents, Sasseur Real Estate Investment Trust recorded the largest gain, increasing 4.1 per cent to S$0.635. AEM suffered the steepest decline, shedding S$1.59, or 20 per cent, to end at S$6.37.
