IHH Healthcare said on November 4 that a consolidation of business support functions would involve departures across Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia, affecting about 0.5 per cent of its 76,000 employees.

A spokesperson told CNA that departing staff had received separation offers or been dismissed, depending on established practices in each market. Other employees will take on redesigned positions, the company said. It said the changes would not affect healthcare professionals, teams dealing with patients or clinical services.

The restructuring follows a collaboration announced in June with business and technology consultancy Infosys on an artificial intelligence-powered enterprise resource planning system. IHH said the system would standardise processes throughout its markets, beginning in Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.

IHH said support for departing employees exceeds local legal requirements. It includes enhanced severance, immediate career-transition and outplacement assistance, and a confidential feedback and support channel. The company also said suppliers, partners and vendors would face no immediate changes to operations or existing contracts.

The group operates 190 healthcare facilities across 10 countries. Its four Singapore hospitals are Gleneagles Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Parkway East Hospital.
