Wee Hur awarded 1,398-bed student housing project at NTU
Construction is targeted for the third quarter of 2027, with operations scheduled for the start of the 2029/30 academic year, subject to approvals.

Wee Hur Holdings plans to develop and operate a 1,398-bed student residence at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), marking its entry into Singapore’s purpose-built student accommodation market. The group said on 16 October that it had received a Letter of Award from the university.
The Y-Suites development will primarily accommodate postgraduate students, while undergraduates will receive a limited allocation of beds. It will be the group’s first property in Singapore under the brand, extending its student housing business to a third market after Australia and Hong Kong.
The award followed a competitive selection involving expressions of interest and requests for proposals. It covers financing and design as well as construction, operation and maintenance. Wee Hur and NTU are still working to finalise an agreement, whose terms and conditions will govern the award.
A special-purpose vehicle will undertake the development on an undeveloped site of roughly 6,000 square metres beside 30 Nanyang Link on NTU’s main campus. Subject to the definitive agreement, the vehicle will receive a 20-year initial land lease, with two options to extend it by five years each.
Building work is targeted to start in the third quarter of 2027, and operations are scheduled to begin by the start of the 2029/30 academic year. Both remain subject to approval by NTU and the relevant regulatory authorities.
