Shareholders of Indonesia’s PT PLN (Persero) appointed Suroso Isnandar as president director on 14 October 2026, replacing Darmawan Prasodjo. PLN independent commissioner Andi Arief confirmed the leadership change to CNBC Indonesia following the shareholders’ meeting.

Andi said Suroso would also continue in his existing post as director of project management and new and renewable energy until a replacement was appointed. Suroso had held that position since 18 June 2025. According to Andi, the meeting was attended by all PLN directors, PLN commissioners and BP BUMN.

Darmawan’s tenure as president director began on 6 December 2021 and ended with the appointment. He had previously served as deputy president director from 23 December 2019. Andi thanked him for his contribution and said he expected Suroso to continue PLN’s transformation.

Suroso has worked at PLN for more than 30 years. His previous roles include general manager positions and leadership of the company’s digital and information technology unit. He earned an engineering degree from ITB in 1994, a master’s degree from the University of Abertay in 1999 and an electrical engineering doctorate from ITB in 2025.
