SP Setia welcomes housing tax relief and green incentives in Budget 2027
The developer sees Johor benefiting from closer economic links with Singapore as it expands industrial development alongside its township business.

Malaysia's Budget 2027 could strengthen the outlook for property development through assistance for homebuyers, green investment incentives and construction measures, SP Setia Bhd said. The developer welcomed stamp duty exemptions running until 2030 for residential properties costing up to RM750,000.
Datuk Zaini Yusoff, the group's president and chief executive officer, said in a statement that the tax relief would make buying a home more affordable and underpin residential demand. He also expressed support for increasing affordable housing supply through the 13th Malaysia Plan.
The company identified Johor as a likely beneficiary of closer economic integration with Singapore. Zaini said government backing for regional connectivity and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone matched the group's existing Johor operations and expanding portfolio of industrial developments.
He said continued incentives through the Green Investment Tax Allowance would assist sustainability efforts at Setia Fontaines Industrial Park. The group plans to develop it as a green industrial park, while pursuing industrial expansion alongside its core township operations.
SP Setia also endorsed the return of the Variation of Price (VOP) mechanism. It said this would give contractors more certainty when dealing with changing costs for inputs such as bitumen and diesel.
However, the developer said housing and construction costs still needed attention. Better productivity, more efficient procurement and improvements in delivery costs were important to keeping homes affordable while sustaining both sectors, it said. Cooperation between government and private businesses could also help create quality communities that are sustainable and well connected.
