PT SMPlus Digital Investama (SM+), backed by Sinar Mas, has signed an agreement to acquire Singapore-based Princeton Digital Group's (PDG) Indonesian data centre business. The transaction covers five operating facilities in Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Pekanbaru.

PDG acquired the facilities when it entered Indonesia in 2019. It subsequently invested in upgrades to meet increasing demand for data storage and processing.

PDG said the sale did not signal a withdrawal from Indonesia, but formed part of its long-term strategy. Chief executive Rangu Salgame said the company had entered the market by buying an established portfolio while also expanding its capabilities and developing its hyperscale business.

The company said it had developed large-scale data centre campuses, including JC2, JC3 and JC4, with a total capacity of 400 MW. These facilities are designed for technology companies requiring substantial space and power. Salgame said PDG planned further investment in expansion to serve hyperscale customers in Indonesia and across Asia Pacific.

SM+ is an investment platform for digital infrastructure and services, supported by Sinar Mas through PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA).
