Cambodian exporter Signature Rice aims to supply the Philippines with 100,000 tonnes of rice in 2027, potentially making it one of the company’s biggest markets. A vessel in Kampot was loaded with 5,000 tonnes on November 2 as the company moved to expand direct shipments.

General manager Chan Pich said shipping full vessels rather than containers reduced delivery times and allowed buyers to receive a large consignment of consistent quality. He said the company could deliver 5,000 tonnes per shipment and was ready to do so weekly, with the aim of becoming a long-term supplier.

The Cambodia Rice Federation expects Cambodia’s rice exports to the Philippines to reach about 209,000 tonnes for the full year. Philippine rice imports were expected to hit a record 5.5 million tonnes in 2026.

Across all international markets, Cambodia exported 792,212 tonnes of rice over 2026’s first eight months, the federation reported. That represented a 67.5 per cent increase against the corresponding period in 2025. The Cambodian government has an annual rice export goal of 1 million tonnes, set in 2015.
