Indonesia’s rupiah ended trading on 15 October 2026 at Rp17,920 per US dollar, down 0.14% from the previous close, according to Refinitiv data. The decline extended losses from the preceding session.

The currency had finished at Rp17,895 per US dollar on 14 October. It opened the next session at Rp17,900 and reached Rp17,957 during trading before recovering some ground.

The rupiah’s fall contrasted with a weaker US dollar. At 15:00 Western Indonesian Time, the dollar index, which tracks the currency against six major counterparts, was down 0.43% at 102.110.

US Treasury yields also eased as expectations of an imminent Federal Reserve rate increase receded. The 10-year yield fell to around 5.09%, while the 30-year yield stood at about 5.45%. US inflation figures published on 14 October showed September annual inflation of 3.7%, above market expectations of 3.6%.

Investors were awaiting September 2026 US producer price index and retail sales figures, scheduled for the evening of 15 October, amid uncertainty over the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate policy.
