Singapore-headquartered Princeton Digital Group (PDG) is pursuing syndicated financing of up to US$1.2 billion for its expansion in Malaysia, a person with knowledge of the matter said. The borrowing would support a data-centre project in Johor as well as debt refinancing.

The person said subsidiary Princeton Digital Group Labuan Alpha would take out the three-year loan, with proceeds going towards a campus with 198.8 megawatts of capacity. The person requested anonymity because the information was private.

The mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners are Maybank, UOB, HSBC’s Singapore branch, OCBC Bank (Malaysia) and Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore), according to the person.

Standard Chartered declined to comment. PDG and the other banks did not immediately provide responses to requests for comment.

PDG has said it is targeting US$5 billion in debt financing for expansion across the region. In May, it announced that it had raised around US$856 million to develop data centres in Indonesia.

Founded in 2018, the company reports on its website that it operates data-centre capacity exceeding 1.8 gigawatts across Asia. Warburg Pincus is its largest shareholder, while its other investors include Stonepeak Partners, Mubadala Investment and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board.
