Murphy Oil reports Vietnam offshore discovery and first production
Lac Da Vang began producing on September 27, 2026, while a nearby exploration well found 131 feet (40 metres) of net oil pay.

Murphy Oil Corporation said production had begun at Vietnam’s offshore Lac Da Vang field and reported an oil discovery at the Lac Da Trang North-1X exploration well. Both are in Block 15-1/05.
The company put the start of production at Lac Da Vang, also known as Golden Camel, at September 27, 2026. It expects output to increase through 2028 as more wells enter service, reaching net peak production of approximately 10-15 MBOEPD in 2028-2029.
At Lac Da Trang, or White Camel, North-1X, Murphy reported net oil pay measuring 131 feet (40 metres). Drilling reached a total measured depth of approximately 12,579 feet (3,834 metres), with water depth at the site measuring 147 feet (45 metres).
Murphy and its partners will review the well data to consider appraisal and development options. The company said infrastructure at the producing Lac Da Vang field could support a tieback from the new discovery, potentially reducing development time and capital needs.
Block 15-1/05 is operated by Murphy subsidiary Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co., Ltd., which has a 40% working interest. The other partners are PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation Ltd., with 35%, and SK Earthon Co. Ltd., with 25%.
