Applications for Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) training grants in Melaka are approaching 7,000, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said on 18 October. He attributed the increase in applications to changes aimed at simplifying the agency’s processes and improving governance.

Speaking to reporters in Alor Gajah after the HRD Corp ‘Pocket Talk’ Roadshow: From Policy to the People, Ramanan said the reforms had made procedures smoother and increased transparency. He said putting the changes into practice had required time and effort.

Ramanan also said HRD Corp officers would check every training class paid for through the agency’s existing levy. Monitoring would take place in person or virtually to verify that courses were being held and benefiting their intended participants.

He encouraged participation by workers wanting to improve their skills, graduates seeking jobs and people pursuing new careers. HRD Corp chief executive officer Datuk Shamir Aziz also attended the event.
