Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd has given Kinergy Advancement Bhd a RM47.5 million electrical subcontract for a Port Dickson hyperscale data centre, Kinergy told Bursa Malaysia. The awarding company is a subsidiary of Gamuda Bhd.

Kinergy will construct and complete the facility's electrical services, then test and commission them. Related works are also included in the subcontract. The development is for a technology multinational headquartered in the United States, and the project's scheduled completion falls in the first quarter of 2028.

Datuk Dr Lai Keng Onn, Kinergy's executive deputy chairman and group managing director, said the award showed increasing recognition of its data centre expertise. He also said it demonstrated the relevance of the company's technical capabilities to high-specification infrastructure.

Lai described Malaysia's data centre industry as entering a significant investment cycle. Citing the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, he put approved data centre and cloud-computing investments at RM95.8 billion during the first half of 2026. He said increasingly large and complex developments were driving demand for specialised engineering and power infrastructure.
