Indonesia’s stock market recovery gives way to October decline
The benchmark index lost 16.7 per cent in October after a third-quarter gain, while mutual fund assets and investor numbers increased, OJK said.

Indonesia’s benchmark stock index ended October at 5,057, down 16.7 per cent for the month, reversing gains recorded in the third quarter, according to Financial Services Authority (OJK) chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi.
Speaking at a KSSK press conference on 3 November 2026, Friderica said the capital market had been recovering gradually despite continuing global uncertainty. The Jakarta Composite Index finished the third quarter at 6,071, a quarterly increase of 7.83 per cent, with gains concentrated in July and August. She said the subsequent decline followed MSCI’s announcement of a consultation, with the index closing at 5,057 on 30 October.
Investment management remained relatively stable, she said. Mutual funds held net assets of Rp640.05 trillion as of 27 October 2026, up 0.44 per cent month-to-date. Net subscriptions reached Rp14.11 trillion over the same period, which she said indicated sustained investor interest despite equity market volatility.
Capital market fundraising totalled Rp202 trillion for the year to 28 October 2026. Debt securities or sukuk accounted for Rp50.43 trillion, according to the figures she presented.
The investor base also expanded. Single Investor Identification (SID) numbers reached 33.36 million as of 26 October 2026, an increase of 63.94 per cent since the start of the year. Friderica said issuer fundamentals remained sound, with 73.54 per cent of companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange reporting profits in their financial statements for the first half of 2026.
