Indonesia’s OJK urges investors to avoid panic selling after MSCI announcement
The financial regulator said exchange trading, supervision and share-listing processes continued without disruption.

Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) has urged investors not to sell shares solely out of panic following an MSCI announcement on 15 October 2026. Speaking in Jakarta on 20 October, OJK official Hasan Fawzi acknowledged that the announcement had appeared abrupt.
Hasan, OJK’s chief executive for capital markets, financial derivatives and carbon exchange supervision, said he understood the initial reaction, particularly among domestic retail investors. Buying and selling were normal market activities, he said, but decisions driven by fear without complete information were regrettable.
To address investor anxiety, Hasan said OJK had held meetings with analysts, economists, exchange members, investment managers, pension funds, insurers and media representatives. The aim was to ensure investors received information from authorities and regulators.
OJK hoped verified information would clarify the situation and allow investors to trade with access to the same information, he said. Hasan also said trading operations, market supervision and share-listing procedures remained normal, with no disruption.
